Magna Housing sought to launch an independent digital hub to drive collaborative problem-solving in the housing sector. They needed a brand and product strategy, name and identity to kick start their mission.

Their Story

Magna Housing is a community-focused housing association managing over 9,000 homes across Dorset, Somerset, and Devon, providing safe and affordable housing to more than 20,000 people. With England facing a housing crisis, Magna saw the need for an independent digital hub—free from bureaucracy—to encourage open discussion and problem-solving within the sector. To bring this vision to life, they engaged us to define platform requirements, identify a suitable community platform partner, develop a clear brand strategy and creative direction and design logged out landing page. This work provided them with a strong foundation and the essential tools to begin building their community.

Discover & Define

Through stakeholder engagement and workshops, we shaped the platform’s brand and experience strategy. The Stakeholder Workshop identified sector challenges, user needs, and success criteria, forming the foundation for platform development. The Brand Workshop explored brand personality, mission, and community positioning, leading to three brand directions; 1. The global community focused on openness and collaboration; 2. The provocative challenger positioned the platform as bold and disruptive; 3. The neutral facilitator emphasized clarity and neutrality. Stakeholders selected the provocative challenger, aligning with their mission to inspire action and drive meaningful change.

Develop & Deliver

With a clear brand strategy in place, we refined the visual identity. A monogram of architectural shapes symbolised 'places' and connections. The colour palette combined bright teal for progress and deep green for trust. Anek Bangla was chosen for its modern, bold aesthetic. Photography focused on inclusivity, while custom icons enhanced storytelling. We developed social assets, banners, templates, and campaign materials. Comprehensive guidelines ensured consistency across typography, colours, tone of voice, and iconography. Collaborating with Magna and the recommended platform provider, we integrated branding into the platform’s UI.
